The show centers on Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy), a software developer in San Francisco who, following a freak accident during an MRI, gains a unique "superpower": she can hear people's innermost thoughts and desires as popular songs and dance numbers. These "heart songs" allow her to see past the facades of her friends, family, and coworkers, turning her once-logical life into a vibrant, often overwhelming, musical landscape. Heart and Humor

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is a high-concept jukebox musical dramedy that balances infectious energy with deeply grounded emotional exploration. The Core Premise

While the concept provides plenty of room for humor and elaborate choreography by Mandy Moore (of La La Land fame), the show is anchored by its emotional depth. It was inspired by creator Austin Winsberg's own experience with his father's struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). This real-world connection is mirrored in the show through Zoey's father, Mitch (Peter Gallagher), who is unable to communicate verbally but finds a voice through the "heart songs" Zoey hears.
