As the telethon begins, the Muppets struggle to find their rhythm, and the donations trickle in slowly. At the last minute, Miss Piggy returns, and the show catches fire. They perform "The Muppet Show Theme" and "Rainbow Connection," bringing the world back to its senses.
Despite their best efforts, they fall $1 short of the $10 million goal as the clock strikes midnight. Tex Richman cuts the power and evicts them. The Muppets walk out of the theater, defeated, only to find thousands of fans waiting in the streets. The world didn't give them the money, but they gave them something better: their relevance back.
