Founded in 1986 in Sandviken, Sorcery initially drew inspiration from thrash titans like Slayer and Bathory . While their first demo, The Arrival (1987), was rooted in blackened thrash, Ancient Creation pushed the band into much faster and more brutal territory.

: A shorter, unreleased version of the demo was recorded in late 1987 featuring guitarist Peter Sjöberg (later of Theory in Practice).
