Mr. Wednesday, going by the name Al Grimnir , runs a burlesque cabaret where Donar the Great (Thor) is the star strongman and Columbia (the personification of the American pioneering spirit) performs a striptease.

American Nazis (the "Friends of New Germany") attempt to sponsor Donar for weightlifting competitions. When they demand he "take a dive" to let a German win, Donar refuses.

Unlike humans, gods can die permanently through certain actions. The episode reveals that Donar died by in the early 1940s, a death "our kind cannot come back from" according to Wednesday.

Donar and Columbia plan to elope to California, but Wednesday sabotages the relationship to keep Donar under his control. In a climactic fight, Donar shatters Wednesday’s spear, Gungnir , with his hammer and abandons his father.
