On June 14, 2016, a blue shark became stranded in the shallow waters off a popular beach in Punta Cana. Rather than assisting the animal or keeping a safe distance, a group of beachgoers and lifeguards (reportedly from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana ) used ropes and nets to haul the shark onto the sand for photographs. punta-cana-shark-attack-2016
