Narcosis is a state of drowsiness or unconsciousness often induced by drugs, but in specialized fields, it refers to a reversible change in consciousness caused by breathing certain gases under high pressure. It is most famously known among scuba divers as "rapture of the deep," where nitrogen becomes narcotic at depth, creating a feeling similar to alcohol intoxication. Types of Narcosis narcosis
