Set in a where society has descended into chaos, the film follows Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) and a group of fellow Immortals, including the ancient Methos and Watcher Joe Dawson.

Highlander: The Source is frequently cited as one of the worst sequels ever made, even by dedicated fans of the franchise.

They are hunted by "The Guardian," a monstrous being with superhuman speed and strength who protects the Source.

As they approach the Source, the Immortals find their healing abilities failing. The "Prize" at the center is revealed to be mortality and the ability to have children —a sharp departure from the "power of all living things" established in the 1986 original. Critical & Fan Reception

The group seeks an energy well in Eastern Europe known as "The Source," believed to be the origin of immortality.

The fifth installment in the Highlander film franchise, , is widely considered the lowest point in the series’ history. Originally intended to launch a new trilogy for the Sci-Fi Channel, its overwhelming negative reception led to the cancellation of all future sequels and prompted series creators to eventually declare it a "bad dream".
