: After discovering that Penny is hosting a party to watch a Nebraska Cornhuskers football game and didn't invite him, Leonard fears she is embarrassed by him. To prove he can fit in, he decides to learn about football. He eventually seeks help from Sheldon, who has an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport due to his upbringing in Texas, where his father forced him to watch games. During the party, Leonard’s over-eager recitation of rules and mechanics alienates him from Penny’s friends.

: Meanwhile, the group participates in a "kite-fighting" competition. During a critical moment, Howard abandons Raj to chase after a woman, causing Raj to lose his prized Patang kite to Sheldon. This betrayal leads to a major argument between the two. Howard later attempts to reconcile by taking Raj to the La Brea Tar Pits, though he once again gets distracted by a woman, this time with Raj's weary blessing.
