As the tow truck sped off with the wrong car and Greg chased after the van, Daryl simply adjusted his hat. He knew his boss’s name and he knew Jim from accounting because Jim handled the checks. Beyond that, the world could be ending, and as long as it didn’t affect his direct deposit, Daryl was just a man sitting on a porch, watching the movie of life without ever buying a ticket.

"Then it’s none of my business," Daryl said, leaning back. "Arguing or helping requires caring, and Greg, I am at a zero-percent care capacity today."
